Who am I?
To hire or to join a guide can be an uncertain matter, because usually you don't know the person who will lead and guide you. If you plan to travel with your guide and he even serves as your person taxi cab driver it may be of additional interest to have some basic information.
In my teenage years I became a trained chef. After age of nineteen I've spent about ten years abroad in the Netherland, Belgium, United States of Ameria, South-Korea and Japan serving as a volunteer for international non-profit organizations. In 1989 I got married to a Japanese wife. We now have two children and live in a farm in Upper-Austrian countryside. It's my parents farm that I inherited a few years ago. Organic farming has become one of my hobbies.
In my mid-thirties my wife and myself ran a restaurant for about a year and a half. After our son was born, we quit the restaurant. I took on a job as a cook in a hospital kitchen in Linz and attended evening classes at the "Handelsakademie Linz" (a sort of business college) that I graduated from in the year 2000. From 1999 until 2006 I was working as a Computer Software Localization manager for "Soft Warehouse Europe" in the Softwarepark Hagenberg. In 2006 the company closed down and I decided to become an Austria-Guide. After taking courses and studying very hard, I passed Austrian state exams in September 2007, and became a certified Austria-Guide. I enjoy guiding and escorting guests to different places in Austria.
In 2009 Linz was a European Capital of Culture along with Vilnius (Lithuania).
If you are looking for a Guide that can also drive and bring you from place to place, I may be just the right person for you because I am also a certified Cab driver (Taxi-Driver) in Linz. Or if you look for a Cab driver who can also be a guide, you might have a great time joining me on an individual tour! I offer tours in English an German an I'm quite fluent in communicating in Korean and Japanese language as well. Rudimentary dialog in Dutch and French language is possible too.
You will find more information about my farm, family, and other projects on my personal website www.gutenbrunner.cc
