Hiking tour in Muehlviertel

The Muehlviertel is the northern region of Upper Austria with borders towards Germany, Czech Republic and neighboring Lower Austria. Geologically speaking it is part of the "Bohemian tectonical plate" with granite high lands and uncountable rolling hills. Landscape and rough climatical conditions have brought forth a very unique, strong and kind of stuborn people who have learned to survive under poor and advers circumstances. I am one of them. Ask my Japanese wife, and she will tell you a lots of stories.

This tour will lead through one or more of farm villages Wartberg ob der Aist, Bad Zell, Pierbach, Köngiswiesen, Unterweissenbach, St. Leonhard, Schoenau, Liebenau or others. Most of these towns have remarkable gothic churches. Along the tour there will be opportunity to see and experience some of presumable former ritual locations in the nature, Granit rock formations with holes (cavities) on their top. These sites are also know as "Kraftplatz", sites of special energy. Or we may visit one of the ruins, that witness about past ages..

Along this tour we can try to arrange meetings with local people and opportunities to try and share some of the very traditional local food, like smoked meat, differnt types of "Knoedel", breads and maybe "Schnaps". Fees for this tour will be based on individual calculation depending on duration, distance driven and the type of culinary consumptions.
